tbs Services was engaged to provide an exterior envelope investigation assessment in order to determine the sources of the ongoing water infiltration to the interior around the East Entrance of McKinly Lab.
The scope of work extended from grade up to above the roof tie-in above the Third Floor. TBS later provided Construction Documentation and Construction Administration Phase services for brick & flashing repairs and skylight & curtainwall replacement at the East Entrance.
The documentation and execution of the project included removal of 3 courses of brick at flashing and steel shelf levels that intersect with the 2-story entrance system and the Third-Floor curtainwall. New flashing and end dam flashing terminations were designed and completed.
Additionally, TBS designed a new combination skylight & curtainwall system with integral step flashings and gutter system that improve upon the originally installed glazing system.
Additional waterproofing components included vertical coating system at adjacent exposed concrete surfaces and tie-ins to existing roofing systems.
