The Early Education Center was constructed to provide affordable daycare and educational services for children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old. Hurricane Sandy had severely damaged four of the centers in the area, displacing almost 200 students who attended these locations.

The new three-story, state-of-the-art building was built with a steel roof system designed to consider the potential impact of future weather-related events. The steel supports for the roof that can withstand winds of up to 165 mph, and the windows that withstand 115 mph winds. The new facility has 20 classrooms, colorful stone floor pathways, playgrounds, an indoor gym, rooftop garden, an education center and administration offices.
