Brower Student Center (BSC) was constructed in 1976 and is a two-story building, with the first and second floors above grade, and a partial ground floor below-grade. The air-conditioned BSC is occupied throughout the year by students, faculty, staff, and visitors. It serves as the student center on campus, and is home to student organizations, game room, dining facilities and the campus bookstore.
TBS Services was engaged by the College to provide design, bidding, and construction administration services for the replacement of the aging low-slope roof system, and expansive skylight systems, as well as to assess the then current conditions of the remaining building envelope and water infiltration issues. Additional building envelope work included repair and rehabilitation of damaged exterior masonry (i.e., brick and concrete), cladding, through-wall flashings, replacement of exterior cladding joints, and terrace waterproofing.
During the early design phases, TBS Services, in conjunction with a Mech/Elec/Plumbing Engineering firm, developed an energy model to identify potential cost savings of the new roof and skylight systems vs. the existing.
